Committees

These are the committees defined within Woman's Club of Wilmette. Click the view members link or the committee name to see a list of committee members. Executive
A management committee comprised of the Club officers. DUTIES INCLUDE: Develop and maintain Board calendar. Prepare agenda for Board meetings. Apply for and maintain necessary or desirable licenses and permits. Prepare and file all reports, forms, and documents required by local, state, and federal governmental bodies. Maintain the Club’s corporate records.
Activities
Planning, creating and promoting a variety of activities for the Club members and/or community. If you would like to be involved, please contact activities@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Develop and schedule membership activity calendar for the year. Organize and conduct member programs and social activities. Plan luncheons & teas. Develop ideas for Club activities, new events, and special events. Maintain and update website calendar in conjunction with Clubhouse calendar. Recruit members to help with volunteer opportunities. Submit monthly activities to Jargon committee mid-month.
Clubhouse
A wide range of supervisory and managerial responsibilities required to schedule, utilize, operate, maintain, and improve buildings, facilities and grounds. If you would like to be involved with scheduling and utilization, please contact reservations@womansclubofwilmette.org or to be involved with operations, please contact president@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Scheduling: Manage and approve all Clubhouse scheduling, Maintain Clubhouse calendar in conjunction with activity calendar, Update and execute contracts for Clubhouse rentals, Recruit and schedule Club Representatives or Club Employees to be on site during Club and rental activities. Operations: Manage routine and special housekeeping activities, Maintain and repair Clubhouse and grounds, Manage, design and oversee construction of Clubhouse improvements (in cooperation with WCWF), Identify and manage building contractors, Purchase building related supplies, Recruit members for occasional help.
Communications
Managing and generating all communications and PR needed for the Club and Foundation. If you would like to be involved, please contact communications@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Publicity/Marketing: Establish a public relations and marketing plan, Answer media inquiries, Publicize WCW activities. Website: Maintenance of the website, Monthly updates to content, Assist/train other committees on calendar and emails. Social: Maintain social media outlets, Facebook page, Instagram, Next Door, Patch, Chamber of Commerce. Newsletter (aka The Jargon): Send monthly call for content to all committees, Create the monthly newsletter as an email blast using Club Express, Create a print version and send to printer and mail, Upload a PDF each month to our website’s Jargon Archive page Membership Directory & Handbook: Organize, assemble, and publish the annual Membership Directory and Handbook, Work with Membership and Governance for membership list and bylaws.
Community Outreach
Re-establish WCW as a community hub by connecting others to information and services available in the area. If you would like to be involved, please contact communityoutreach@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Create partnerships with other non-profits, Establish and foster relationships with Chamber and local businesses, Recommend charitable and civic initiatives to Board of Directors for review and approval, and oversee approved activities, Support WCW’s strategic, charitable, and philanthropic goals, Facilitate donations of money or space, Work with Treasurer to obtain checks and Events Manager for space rentals.
Finance
The Finance Committee provides financial analysis, advice, and oversight of the budget for the Club. If you would like to be involved, please contact finance@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Oversee the investment of the Club’s financial assets. Prepare the annual budget. Periodically review the budget and share at Board meetings.
Fundraising
The Woman's Club of Wilmette commits to being a vibrant, inclusive resource for social progress and community outreach through inspirational education and engagement. If you would like to be involved, please contact fundraising@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Develop and organize all fundraising activities. Establish “friendraising” approach. Coordinate with Woman’s Club of Wilmette Foundation.
Governance
Members periodically review and update board organization and policies. If you would like to be involved, please contact governance@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Identify, recruit, and nominate potential Board and Officer candidates. Plan and coordinate the orientation of new Board members. Provide continuing Board development. Coordinate, assess, and take action when necessary regarding Board performance and its needs. At the April Board meeting: Nominate the slate of Directors for re-election or election, Nominate the Executive Officers of the Board for the next fiscal year. Maintain a list of Membership of the Board, including each Director’s term of office. Review bylaws every 2–3 years and manage update process: Work with Communications on directory.
Membership
The membership committee oversees membership recruitment, engagement, dues, and retention. If you would like to be involved, please contact membership@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Recruit new Club members, Plan and coordinate the orientation of new Club members. Help with member profile activation. Facilitate collection of dues. Coordinate small group welcome gatherings. Assist new members with committee selection. Maintain membership database, Work with Communications on directory, Organize care of established members.
Readers Circle
Literature Group reactivated in 2019. If you would like to be involved, please contact readerscircle@womansclubofwilmette.org. DUTIES INCLUDE: Organize monthly book discussions, Suggest books for the group. Add Reader's Circle meetings to website calendar, Submit monthly book description and imageS to Jargon committee mid-month, Send monthly email blast invitations.
